France : The posthumous French Award to the late Moroccan photographer Leila Alaoui

The late Moroccan photographer Leila Alaoui, killed in a terrorist attack in Ouagadougou last year, will be recognized with the « Commandeur des Arts et des Lettres «, announced  the French Minister of Culture Ms Audrey Azoulay on lately in Paris.

Mr Pierre Bergé the co-founder of  Yves Saint Laurent Couture House, has been chosen to give the prestigious award to Leila Alaoui’s mother, Ms Christine Alaoui, on Friday 21 april, during a ceremonial in Morocco.

The French minister paid tribute to the young photographer "who witnessed  the diversity and depth of cultures around the world". Adding, « she photographed with strength and respect ".

The French minister also hailed the Leila Alaoui Foundation established in March 2016 to ensure Leila Alaoui's works.
