A workshop on Moroccan media and the treatment of the migration issue was held on October 16th and 17th, 2015 in Rabat, by the Council for Moroccans abroad (CCME) and the High Institute of Information and Communication (ISIC).
Moroccan journalists interested in migration issues discussed the inadequacy of migration concerns in the media, the lack of information and sufficient resources, in addition to the weakness of media programs regarding migration. The conclusions of the workshop include the necessity of establishing a network which involves all journalists interested in migration, particularly the creation of a data bank, the exchange of ideas and experiences. The recommendations include sensitizing the state about the importance of the media in migration, urging all institutions to provide adequate information to support journalists through trainings, namely in foreign languages, in addition to concluding partnerships with the media to conduct reports that highlight the problematics affecting Moroccan migration worldwide.
The activities of the workshop on the establishment of a communication strategy on migration were concluded on Saturday, October 17th.
