Sunday, 11 December 2016

Mr Abdellah Boussouf, secretary general of the Council of the Moroccans living abroad (CCME) said in his opening’s speech during the meeting around the third Press Prize of the Southern Provinces on Saturday, December 10, 2016, on the theme " Media and Migration", that migration and the moroccan journalists living abroad should be part of public policies.

The Secretary General of the CCME, said that migration is going through a difficult economic period adding the importance of the  impact of the media on the image of migrants. He was critical about  the way  the media covered this issue and fuels stereotypes.

"Today we celebrate the International Human Rights Day (10 december) in a world where freedom of movement and freedom of expression are experiencing great regressions and where politicians in major democracies promise to expel migrants and build Walls at the borders", he said.

The Secretary General of the CCME  said about the southern provinces: "we are in the Sahara, a place of migration and where cultures and civilizations have produced the Hassani language, a mixture of Arabic and Amazigh which expresses the identity of this region which is in a constant evolution ".
