President of Costa Rica Receives Moroccan Parliamentary Delegation

San José (Costa Rica) Map– The President of the Republic of Costa Rica Luis Guillermo Solis received last Friday at the presidential palace in San José a Moroccan parliamentary delegation which is taking part in the work of the human rights commission of the Forum of Presiding Officers of Legislative Assemblies of Central America and the Caribbean Basin (FOPREL).

The meeting focused on means of strengthening bilateral relations in all areas, Kenza El Ghali, head of the delegation and second vice-speaker of the House of Representatives told MAP.

El Ghali added that the meeting was an opportunity for the Moroccan MPs to discuss with the Costa Rican president the Moroccan Sahara issue and the autonomy plan proposed by Morocco to end this dispute.

During the meeting, the Moroccan delegation highlighted the relevance of the Moroccan initiative which was described by the international community as a credible and realistic proposal.

The Parliamentary delegation took part Friday in the work of FOPREL's human rights commission.

Morocco's participation in this commission meeting comes after the Kingdom was granted last October an observer member status.
