Iran and Morocco to Resume Diplomatic Relationships.

Monday, 22 December 2014

The head of the Iranian republic Hassan Rouhani has finally approved the proposal made by the Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohammed Jawad Darif calling for the appointment of seven new ambassadors in a number of countries, including Morocco.

Fars News Agency, one of Iran’s state-run media outlets, announced last weekend Mohammed Taqi Moayed as Iran’s new ambassador to Rabat.

The man has previously occupied the same position in Tunisia, the Netherlands, and Greece.

It is worth highlighting that various political analysts in Morocco considered the said announcement, following a 6-year-old diplomatic estrangement between the two countries, as an indication of Iran’s new administration desire to give a fresh air to its policies in the north African region, especially in Morocco.
