United States: Moroccan Taxi driver shot in the back on Thanksgiving Day

Monday, 30 November 2015

On Thursday, a Moroccan immigrant was on the brink of death due to a hate crime in Pittsburgh, Hazelwood.

At UPMC Mercy hospital, the victim recounted that the American passenger started asking him about his background, questioning him about ISIS crimes and satirizing the prophet Mohammed (Pbuh), a short time after he picked him up outside Rivers Casino at 1 a.m. The victim who requested anonymity for safety reasons, answered: “Actually, I’m against ISIS. I don’t like them”, and that they are killing innocent people. The passenger, however, ratcheted up the rhetoric further. Upon reaching his destination, he asked the taxi driver to wait for a while, claiming he forgot the wallet in his house. He rather came back with a rifle and started shooting. The Moroccan immigrant decided to drive away trying to escape, a bullet came through the back window and struck him in the back. The case is under investigation and the culprit is still unidentified…
