In the groundwork of the symposium on climate, a session on "energy resources and efficiency, carbon" took place Friday, November 11, 2016 in Marrakech.
Dr. Rachid Yazami, researcher at Nangyang University in Singapore and inventor of the graphic anode for lithium-ion batteries explained in his intervention that "Africa is strong enough in energy storage: " a lithium battery, needs more than 60 components including graphites. And the African soil is full of them : Copper is abundant in Congo and Morocco is the first producer of silver and producer in the world. "
These assets, combined with the expertise that can be provided by Africa and around the world, can make the African continent the world leader in lithium batteries," he said.
"We are countries of the south and south means sun which means again solar energy, rivers which means hydraulic energy and wind, which means wind energy, all are sustainable and clean energies," said the researcher.
For her part, Mrs Amina Benkhadra said that "fossil fuels today account for 82% of the global energy mix and will decline to 75% in the next few decades because of the renewable energies that we must promote.
Mrs Benkhadra reminded that "thanks to the enlightened vision of His Majesty the King, Morocco has chosen the development of renewable energies and created the institutions to do so. She added « we are already beginning to gather the earnings of This vision with the launch of the wind power station Noor 1 and Morocco is now ready to share its experience with the African countries ".
Other eminent professors participated to this encounter.
