Belgica Biladi (Belgium, my homeland) recently published by Editions de l’Université de Bruxelles includes authors Ahmed Medhoune, Andrea Rea, Christophe Sokal and Fatima Zibouh.
The book is a deep dive into the history of Moroccan migration to Belgium. Particularly following the signing in 1964 of the bilateral Moroccan-Belgian agreement to send Moroccan workers to Belgium, under which they emigrated to work in the country’s industrial sectors.
‘’Three, or even four generations later, they have become active cross-border citizens. From culture to politics, sports to economics, their presence is enriched by their contributions and the questions they raise. Today it makes Belgium a unique laboratory for the intercultural societies of the future’, says the book’s introduction.
“Belgica Biladi” contains the contributions of over twenty experts, along with the personal stories of Moroccan-belgians, and constitutes a rich source of knowledge on the Moroccan community in Belgium
