Round table: “Plural Morocco “

The meeting  on “Plural Morocco” was conducted by the researchers Mr Mohammed Hatmi, Mr Mohamed Reda Boudchar, Mr Mohammed Ahmed Ghayn and Lahoucine Bouyaakoubi  was moderated by Mr Jaouad Achakouri, Project Manager at the CCME.

During his introduction to the subject, Mr. Achakouri outlined the studies realized by the council which have shown that “the cultural and spiritual need is growing among the new generations of Moroccans living abroad”. He also said, explains that the choice of the CCME’s theme for this  edition, “Moroccan culture beyond the borders”, highlights the intellectual and literary contribution of the Moroccans of the Moroccans living abroad to the enhancement of the Moroccan culture.

Mr Lahoucine Bouyaakoubi spoke about the Amazigh part of Moroccan identity. Saying : “Amazighness » is not  a territory but a the very spirit of Morocco” and in various facets of the Moroccan daily life. As example he noted  “the influence of Amazigh language on the Moroccan dialect especially in the grammar where  30% of the darija, are of Amazigh origin.

For his part Mr Mohammed Ahmed Ghayn, researcher, promoted the Hassani aspect of the Moroccan identity, which was “built in an open carthography which experienced movement and circulation”.

Mr Mohamed Reda Boudchar brought to light the different “perceptions of the Andalusian tributary in Moroccan culture” and recalled that “the Moroccan culture is also very current in the Andalusian Spanish society”.

He explained how “the Andalusian spirit is still in in the air the cities but also in rural areas  and in “architecture ». He says that “through research and anthropological studies, several words and more than 2000 popular quotes have been identified of Andalusian origin”. 

Mr Mohammed Hatmi, spoke about the influence of the Hebrew tributary in the Moroccan culture.

“Nearly 3000 Moroccans of Jewish confession in Morocco live in Morocco, mainly in Casablanca, a home to nearly a million Jews of Moroccan origin in the world”.

‘Immigration has deepend the belonging of the Jewih Moroccan diaspora. They are also committed to national causes.
