The Faculty of Legal, Economic and Social Sciences (FSJES) in Rabat hosted, Monday, November 30, 2020, the signing of a Partnership and Cooperation Agreement with the Council of the Moroccan Community Abroad (CCME) for training on advocacy on the Moroccan Sahara.

The convention was signed by Mr. Farid El Bacha, dean of the faculty, and Mr. Abdellah Boussouf, Secretary General of the CCME. The event was moderated by Mr Abdelilah El Abdi, professor at the FSJES.

In his opening remarks, Mr. El Bacha welcomed the commitment of the CCME to this constructive initiative involving researchers and students which can help the new generations in Morocco and abroad to have a better understanding of the importance of the Moroccan Sahara.

For his part, Mr. Abdellah Boussouf said that ” the CCME’s Actions are undertaken in the framework of a collaborative approach that aims to include the academic research in institutional agendas and which have become unavoidable since the recent events at the El Guerguerat border crossing.

Adding: “It will be necessary to acquire the scientific and historical knowledge to reject the disinformation and misinformation about Morocco’s sovereignty since 45 years, especially in European countries”.

The convention includes other components, such as the creation of master’s degrees to train students who would become scientific relays for this issue. It should also provide answers on the legal, historical and economic aspects of the development of the Moroccan’s southern provinces.

5

This convention will not be the first action undertaken by the CCME to promote support for Morocco’s sovereignty. The council has previously organised artistic exhibitions, intellectual meetings, audiovisual productions on the Hassania culture and presented scientific works on the Sahara issue in order to present to Moroccans around the world all the efforts made by the Kingdom, King and people, for the socio-economic development of the southern provinces.

Mr Boussouf explained that the autonomy project presented by Morocco in 2007, and supported by international and UN bodies since it is a credible platform, remains the only realistic solution to this conflict which can at the same time allow a serene evolution of the development processes initiated by Morocco in its southern provinces.

On the other hand, the CCME Secretary General welcomed thethe peaceful intervention at the border post of El Guerguerat

He then said, this convention will not be the first action taken by the CCME to promote support for the issue of Morocco’s sovereignty. The Council has previously organised artistic exhibitions, intellectual meetings, audiovisual productions on the Hassania culture and presented scientific works on the Sahara issue in order to present to Moroccans living abroad all the efforts made by the Kingdom, King and people, for the socio-economic development of the Moroccan southern provinces.

4

Last but not least, this agreement, which aims to provide Moroccans living abroad with effective advocacy on the Moroccan Sahara also includes other components, such as the creation of masters to train students and make them scientific relays for this issue. It also aims to provide answers on the legal, historical and economic dimensions of the development of the Moroccan southern provinces.
