The Year of Morocco in Canada, which became an annual event, has managed to “radiate Morocco in its diversity” among Moroccan and Canadian communities, said Saturday night in Montreal, the Ambassador of the Kingdom in Ottawa Nouzha Chekrouni.

“Having become now an annual event, this event, with its rich activities, managed to expand the influence of Morocco with the Moroccan and Canadian communities in order to bring them closer together culturally and economically,” Chekrouni said at the launch in Dar Al-Maghrib, of the “Year of Morocco in Canada: MaroCan 2015,” initiated by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Al-Maghrib Canada (CCIMC) under the sign ” Morocco, a gateway to Europe, Africa and the East. “

In this sense, Chekrouni said the success enjoyed by the different activities within the framework of the “Year of Morocco in Canada 2014” deserve to be recognized because, she explained, quality demonstrations and performances helped highlight “the Moroccan economic potential and business and investment opportunities offered by the new Morocco, open, enterprising and embarked on the path of democracy and modernity with the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI “.

She also noted that thanks to its historical ties with Canada, its developed business environment and its increase investments in Africa, the Kingdom can be for Canadian investors, “a gateway to African markets,” taking advantage of its position as the first African investor in the area of the Economic and Monetary Community of Central Africa (CEMAC) and the area of Economic and Monetary Union of West Africa (UEMOA).

In the current context marked by the will of the Moroccan and Canadian governments to raise their economic partnership to a higher level, “MaroCan 2015” through the judicious choice of its programming, has confirmed the will of the CCIMC to perpetuate its role as a key promoter of trade and cooperation between Rabat and Ottawa.

The Moroccan diplomat further said that thanks to its dynamism and insight, the CCIMC has succeeded throughout the past years to promote Morocco as a touristic destination of choice and investment platform in the African continent.

She has, moreover, emphasized the role and contribution of the Moroccan diaspora, a “major asset”, which has seen over the years a structural change, allowing it to become a major player in the economic partnership, transfer of technology and know-how.

“Beyond its role of bilateral cooperation, the Moroccan community, with its achievements, its network and will, is able to attract more partners to Morocco, not only to invest, but to use as a platform to access the African continent, “she added.

For his part, the President of the CCIMC Abderrahim Khouibaba, recalled that the Chamber aims through the activities organized as part of this event, to play the role of “facilitator” for trade relations between Morocco and Canada and incite the Moroccan community in this North American country to play an active role in trade between the host country and the motherland.

“As Moroccans of Canada, we must strengthen these economic links, to somehow be ambassadors for our country, Morocco, which can solidify its ties with Canada in all directions,” he insisted.

Further, he said that “MaroCan 2015” will offer several events in economic and cultural fields that will radiate Morocco across Canada and will allow the Moroccan community, with this dual Moroccan and Canadian culture, to promote trade and bilateral cooperation in the economic and socio-cultural fields.

Thus, he concluded, scheduled events will have the main purpose of promoting Morocco, its rich and diverse culture, its geostrategic position and its proximity to Europe and the Arab countries with Canadian businessmen.
