Red Moon to represent Morocco at the Oscars 2015

The Moroccan film "Red Moon" by director Hassan Benjelloun has been selected to compete in the 87th edition of the Oscars in the "Best Foreign Film" section.

A statement from the Moroccan Cinematographic Centre (CCM) said the selection committee chose the film "Red Moon" to represent Morocco at the Oscars in 2015, in accordance with the criteria established by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which organizes the annual Oscars, the movie’s industry most prestigious reward.

The Red Moon follows the journey of a great blind songwriter, the author of a few Moroccan masterpieces including the one that lends the film its title.

Although the first time for Hassan Benjelloun, Morocco has already submitted 9 times to the Oscars with only one shortlist mention in 2011.
