Tangier: National Symposium on Immigration in Morocco

Monday, 10 November 2014

The Moroccan Organization for Human Rights (OMDH) and the Friedrich Ebert Foundation organized this Saturday, November 8, 2014 in Tangier, a national conference on issues related to immigration in Morocco.

Representatives of government departments and national and international associations of human rights took part in the symposium which aims to "explore the legal, humanitarian, moral and human rights related dimensions to the issue of immigration, "according to a dispatch from the MAP.

This conference also intends to enrich «the debate on the legal, social bases and human rights on the eve of the formulation of legislative initiatives that go together with the provisions of the constitution relating to human rights,".

Following this meeting, the participants concluded that "the position of Morocco as a country of transit and destination, requires more effort in the context of a participatory approach and a general mobilization of all community actors, human rights and legislative institutions to accelerate the pace of achievement, taking into account the socio-economic, security and political interests of Morocco and its international commitments in the field.
