4 Moroccans among 100 most powerful women in the Arab world

Morocco has 4 women ranked in the top 100 list of the most powerful Arab women, determined by Arabian Business magazine every year for the past five years.

The four women are respectively, Salwa Idrissi Akhannouch who placed 8th on the list; she’s the leader of the Aksal Group (international retail franchises ready-to-wear and luxury).

Then coming on the 27th position is Maha Laziri, founder of Teach4Morocco. Through her NGO, she advocates the right of children in remote villages to have access to education.

Taking the 81st spot is Fatema Mernissi a renowned writer and sociologist who wrote several books and essays related to the feminist cause in Morocco

Ismahane El Ouafi who placed 91st is the Executive Director of the International Centre for Biosaline Agriculture (ICBA) in Dubai since 2012, she holds a PhD in genetics from Cordoba University, Spain, and has over 15 years of experience in agricultural research.

Noteworthy, Number one on the list is Sheikha Lubna Al-Qasimi from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for her achievements in government. Lawyer Amal Clooney from Lebanon is in second.
