New York: the African Women's Forum takes part in the 59th session of the Commission on the Status of Women

With support from the Council of the Moroccan Community Abroad (CCME), the Forum of African Women held its first international event, participating in the 59th session of the Commission on the Status of woman who was held from 9 to 20 March 2015, at the UN headquarters in New York.

As part of its participation in the UN meeting, the Forum of African Women organized a side event held Friday, March 13 at the UN Church Center on the theme: "Beijing, promises made 20 years ago! ".

Speaking at the meeting, Ms. Souad Talsi , CCME member, said that "the Beijing Declaration did not follow the evolution of African societies since immigration is still not one of the 12 areas of concern cited by the statement, "inviting" migrant African women to gather around what unites them. "

For her part, the President of the Forum of African women, Chantal Kawbiwa thanked Morocco and the Council of the Moroccan Community Abroad (CCME) for this meeting and for the support to the Forum's creation.

Several women leaders attended the event, including the Minister of Promotion of Women and Gender in Burkina Faso, the Minister for the advancement of women and the protection of the child and the Niger and the Minister for Family, women and children in Mali.

The Council of the Moroccan Community Abroad (CCME) and the International Institute for Security and Development had organized from 8 to 11 May 2014 in Dakhla the first edition of the Africa Women's Forum attended by nearly 37 African States.
