"Moroccans are the first group of workers affiliated to Social Security in Spain followed by the Chinese (92,861), Ecuadorians (68,995) and Bolivians (56,861)," says a statement from the Spanish Ministry stating that "the number foreign members affiliated to social security in Spain stood at 1,528,369 workers. "
The number of Moroccans living legally in Spain, as of 1 January 2014, is estimated at 714,221 people, according to figures from the National Statistics Institute (INE). Thus, Moroccans are the largest foreign community outside the European Union legally settled in the country.
