Newly crowned Miss New York is Moroccan

Oubou Iman, a young 26 year old woman originally from Agadir won this Sunday, March 29, 2015 the contest of Miss New York. She will represent the State in the contest of Miss USA to be held in July in Washington DC.

"The brewing between Moroccan and American cultures will always be the secret of my success in any business. It is my duty, as a Moroccan, to promote the cultural and historical diversity of my native country and change the stereotypical image of Morocco as an exotic country with nothing to offer, "said Iman oubou in an interview with Morocco World News.

This Moroccan of the world, who moved with her family to the United States in 2006, has a degree in biochemistry and molecular biology, and is a committed community activist. She speaks her native language, Amazigh in addition to Arabic, English and French.

This is not the first time that the young Moroccan has won a beauty contest in the United States. In March 2012, she won the title of Miss Colorado, the state where her family lives.
