Wednesday, 22 April 2015

Moroccan mountaineer Nacer Ibn Abdeljalil, has managed the impressive feat of planting the Moroccan flag at the North Pole after more than a week long ski expedition of 200 km in extremely difficult weather conditions.

This is a first for a Moroccan athlete.

Ibn Abdeljalil who climbed to the peak of Everest once now has sealed his footsteps on the North Pole.

During this adventure, the Moroccan and his team (three Australians) were forced several times to swim in the frigid waters of the region, as the ice melted because of climate change

The Mountaineer commented, in an interview with Atlantic Radio, on his achievement. He mentioned his satisfaction at having taken up this challenge: be the first Moroccan to the North Pole.

"Morocco joins the ranks of other nations who have ventured on this now strategic territory for world trade," says Nacer, who dedicates this achievement to “Moroccans living in mountain areas who experience harsh conditions every winter."
