Mauritania: The Moroccan Association of unity and solidarity is officially founded.

The Moroccan Association of unity and solidarity comes to see the day in Nouakchott, with the aim to establish a communication bridge between Moroccans living in Mauritania and strengthen ties between members of the community.

The president of the Association Abdelhak Ouajdani said, during a ceremony held last Sunday in the Moroccan Cultural Center, that the new entity has a three-dimensional vocation encompassing human, social and cultural aspects, through the organization of artistic activities and entertainment, craft shows and conferences to publicize the ancestral history of the Kingdom and its rich heritage.

The Association will work to conclude twinning agreements and partnerships with NGOs and charitable bodies, as well as organizing trips and summer camps for children of the Moroccan community in this country.

In a statement on behalf of the Ambassador of Morocco Abderrahmane Benomar, the first counselor of the embassy, ​​Mohammed Benmbarek, noted that this initiative was made possible thanks to the sacrifices of a number of Moroccan expats conscious of the importance of building bridges between members of the Moroccan community.

He urged them to put more efforts in the implementation of this the ambitious program and ensure its continuity and radiation, assuring them of the support of the Embassy to accomplish its mission properly.

Besides its chairman Abdelhak Ouajdani, the office of the Association, who paid tribute to the Moroccan diplomat at the end of its mission, is composed of Rachid Attarek as Secretary General and Ahmed Oumya as treasurer.

Moroccans in Mauritania officially amount to 7,000 people, including businessmen, traders, physicians, engineers, students and workers living mainly in the two major cities, namely Nouakchott and Nouadhibou.
