Canada: Moroccan imam Hamid Slimi is leading a fundraising campaign to restore a Catholic church

According to the Canadian newspaper site, The Star, Moroccan imam, Hamid Slimi, officiating at "the Sayeda Khadija Centre", an Islamic center in Mississauga (Ontario municipality outside Toronto) has set to raise funds to help with repairs of the Catholic Church "St. Catherine of Siena" in Toronto.

This church was the subject of an attack by a mentally unbalanced youngster, who happens to be a Canadian Muslim. The assailant’s attack damage is estimated at 10,000 Canadian dollars.

Leading the Friday prayers at his mosque, Hamid Slimi called during his sermon the Muslim community to mobilize to help raise funds for the church repairs.

The call of the Moroccan imam, had a good effect on the Muslim community in Mississauga, as he was able to raise in a record time, 5000 Canadian dollars, almost half of the sum required for repairs of the church.

The sum was given by Imam Hamid Slimi to the head of the church, Father Camillo Lando.
