Wednesday, 29 July 2015

In Spain in the district of Los Rosales, a Moroccan teenager was awarded the National Prize for Youth in the "intercultural communication". This award honors her role in improving relations between communities.

She is now the symbol of the youth of Los Rosales neighborhood. Hajar Koudad Kasmi, a teenager from Morocco has won the National Youth Award 2015 in the "cultural communication" category.

Columbares association explained on their Facebook page, the reasons that led to the choice of Hajar. In fact, as part of a project developed since 2014 by the association to facilitate the effective integration, Hajar stood out for her commitment to multiculturalism and coexistence of the communities of the district of Los Rosales

It is through words that the teenager of 16, from a family of immigrants from Oujda, expressed the obstacles she had to overcome to become a reference for the youth of her neighborhood.

She described in her text the difficulties she has encountered since her family moved to Spain. The text then seduced the members who had difficulty imagining that "such a young person could have clear ideas both for her community and for herself."

Participating in the project of the association, Hajar contributed to the communication campaign titled Los Rosales, a neighborhood in El Palmar, in the Murcia region.

Hajar recounts her daily life and the lives of the inhabitants of the neighborhood. This campaign was to contribute to a positive image of the district. A successful goal for the association as this distinction serves as both "a recognition of the work for the integration of Hajar but also as a way to work towards coexistence between different cultures."

The project of the association is funded by the Fund for asylum, immigration and integration of the European Union but also by funding from the Ministry of Employment and the Spanish Social Security.
