Moroccans in Spain: Exchanging Moroccan driving licenses with Spanish ones to become faster.

Monday, 24 August 2015

The Ministry in charge reassures Moroccans residing in Spain that its relevant departments will continue to review their files, with faster processing and resolve any problems they encounter.

The Department of Transport "has taken in coordination with the Spanish services concerned, the technical and administrative measures to accelerate electronic delivery of these services and data relating to the exchange of licenses."

According to the Ministry’s statement, these measures aim to allow Moroccans resident in Spain to exchange their Moroccan driving licenses in better conditions and within a reasonable time.

Until now, during an exchange of license, the Moroccan national had to apply to the Directorate General of Transport (DGT - Spain) which transmitted an electronic application to Morocco. The applicant could follow his file on the Internet and had an appointment 30 days later if the answer was provided by Morocco. He usually had to wait three to four months for the case to be validated.

When the file is validated on the Moroccan side, the applicant received a valid permit for movement only in Spain. The final permit is sent three or four weeks later to the home of the applicant.
