The phone call between His Majesty King Mohammed VI and the German Chancellor, Mrs Angela Merkel, on Wednesday,September 28, 2016, will give a new incentive to the Moroccan-German cooperation in the domain of migration, said Mr. Stanislaw Tillich, Head of the German Bundesrat (Upper House), during his official visit in Rabat.

In his press statement, Mr. Tillich who had a meeting with the interior minister, Mohamed Assad and the Minister for the Interior, Mr Cherki Draiss HM t that the session is "very important" especially after the discussion between the HM the King and Mrs Merkel, which will, according to him, be an oppotunity to reinforce the cooperation between Rabat and Berlin, especially in the field of legal and illegal migration.

The partnership between Morocco and Europe, particularly with Germany in this field is "important and increases," added Mr. Tillich, saying that Morocco is an "important partner in the applicationof this joint project".

He further highlighted the strategic position of Morocco as a crossroads between Africa and Europe. He welcomed the will of the Kingdom to "master illegal migration flows".

Mr Tellich then welcomed the announcement of the Moroccan home secretary to Germany on 12 October 2016 to discuss with his German counterpart.

The President of the Bundesrat, previously had talks with the President of the House of Councillors, Mr Hakim Benchemmach and the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Chafik Rachadi.
