Almeria: Mr Boussouf calls for an international battle of “a cultural education in diversity”

Mr. Abdellah Boussouf, Secretary General of the Council of the Moroccan Community living Abroad (CCME) took part, Friday, September 27, 2019 in Almeria (Spain), to the conference "Moroccan students in Spain: opportunities and challenges". The meeting was organized by the Environment & Education Association (AMAE) in partnership with the CCME.

The secretary general emphasized the learning study of diversity for the new generations. He added that "Education in diversity and pluralism are able to deal against hatred, racism and Islamophobia. He also said teaching the Arabic language and Moroccan culture to children of Moroccan origin can enable people to get involved in human values through the knowledge of the other.

On the other hand, Mr Boussouf called for an international action which could be matured in partnership with Morocco.

Moreover, he said the media play an essential role for diversity and education by considering the immigrant as a full citizen with rights and responsibilities.

The political player is the second essential aspect of the diversity education project: "it is difficult to understand the issue of teaching in diversity without political speeches that should gather around openness and human values, unlike the European extremist parties who incite fear and hatred of the other. "

Mr. Boussouf gave the example of the political speech of the extreme right-wing Spanish movement "Vox" around migrants, especially in Andalusia.

The opening session of this meeting was attended by Ms. Maria Del Carmen Castillo, Territorial Delegate of Education, Sport, Equality, Social Policy and Conciliation in Almeria, Mr. Manuel de la Fuente Arias, Vice Delegate of the Government in Almeria, Mr. Antonio Chavez, Director of Strategic Planning and Programming at the Three Cultures Foundation and Mr. Khalid Bouziane, Moroccan Consul in Almeria. Mr. Hassan Belarbi, President of the Environment & Education Association (AMAE), moderated this session.
