Monday, 04 November 2019

Mr. Abdellah Boussouf, secretary general of the Council of the moroccan community living abroad (CCME) gave an inaugural session on the theme “culture a lever for development”, thursday 31 october 2019 , at the university of literature in Rabat.

He said that « all trends in the world are related to development » which is a difficult task for developing countries” but also an opportunity to seize “because development also depends on non tangible ressources”. Consequently, a country like Morocco can take advantage of its uniqueness in terms of “singularity and authenticity”.

Mr Abdellah Boussouf gave several examples of the cultural concern and its link to development. He referred to the King’s speech in1999 where the head of State said that modernity and the sacred values of our society were fully compatible. Th secretary general then indicated that the Council of Religious Affairs confirmed the Civil authority of the State which for example resulted in Women exercising as “Adouls”.

M.Boussouf touched upon several other subjects linked to culture and development: cultural legacy and its economic benefits, religious tolerance and the positive contribution of Moroccans living abroad. He also presented several projects related to Moroccan cultural centers in Europe, which will be created in partnership with European universities (France, Italy and Spain).
