The “Trophées Marocains du Monde” (TMM), organized by the TMM Foundation, was organized 10 may 2025 in Marrakech. The Trophy is a key event celebrating the achievements of Moroccans living abroad and strengthening ties with their homeland.
Eighteen nominees across six categories—arts and culture, scientific research, politics, business, sports, and civil society—competed for awards recognizing exceptional Moroccan diaspora members.
Winners included:
– Scientific Research: Mimoun Azzouz, a neuroscience professor at the University of Sheffield, for his work on treatments for degenerative diseases.
– Arts and Culture: Filmmaker Said Hamich Benlarbi for his impact on cinema.
– Sports: Kickboxer Tarik Khbabez.
– Politics: Nora Achahbar, former Dutch State Secretary, for her advocacy for equality and social justice.
– Civil Society: Mohamed El Mazzouzi for his associative work.
– Business: Mostapha Lassik, head of MipihSIB, a public group driving digital transformation in healthcare and public services.
The 2025 jury included the writer Fouad Laroui, French-Moroccan politician Fatima Yadani, and former boxing champion Nordine Oubaali.
A special tribute was paid to Ms Souad Talsi, founder of Al-Hassania Association in the UK, for her 40-year advocacy for Moroccan and Arab women’s rights, earning her a decoration from Queen Elizabeth II, presented by King Charles III.
Amine Saâd, TMM Foundation president, emphasized that the TMM honors the courage, success, and connection of Moroccans abroad to their homeland. The event also featured the first Economic Forum of Moroccans Abroad, focusing on their investments and contributions to Morocco’s development.
