Italy: 497,550 Work permits planned between 2026 and 2028

The Italian government has adopted the new Decreto Flussi, the Decree on Migration Flows, anticipating nearly 500,000 entries of foreign workers between 2026 and 2028, distributed as follows: 164,850 in 2026, 165,850 in 2027, and 166,850 in 2028. This decree sets annual quotas for the entry of third-country nationals to work independently or for seasonal jobs. Read the article

 

Italy: A study on immigration and organized crime

The study, published in December 2025 by the Institute for Political, Economic and Social Studies (Eurispes) and conducted between 2019 and 2024, highlights how organized crime, in its various forms, exploits migration dynamics to implement complex forms of exploitation and shows how networks systematically exploit vulnerabilities in reception systems, territories, the labour market, and bureaucratic requirements. Read the article


France: A study on immigration as an economic asset

Published on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, a study by the French National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies (INSEE), based on data from the European Union's statistical office Eurostat, analyses the contribution of immigration to the economy. It highlights the growing contribution of an increasingly skilled, active, and female immigrant population to the French labour market, while also showing that the country receives a proportionally smaller number of foreigners than the European average.  Read the article


Spain: The term “MENA” in the dictionary sparks controversy

The Royal Spanish Academy (RAE) has added the term “MENA” (Unaccompanied foreign minors) to its dictionary. This decision has drawn opposition from several migrant associations, including the Moroccan Association for the Integration of Immigrants (AMIA), as well as the Spanish government, which denounces its potentially stigmatizing use and its violation of the rights of migrant children.  Read the article


80 cents euro an hour: forced integration of migrants in Germany

According to an investigation by the weekly newspaper Die Zeit, some asylum seekers are forced to work for 80 cents euro an hour and perform up to 25 hours of community service each week. Presented as a measure to promote the integration of migrants, it has sparked strong criticism and raised questions about fairness and the dignity of labour.  Read the article

  • Samira El Ayachi has published Madame Bovary, ma mère et moi (Éditions de l’Aube, 272 pages). A novel that deftly explores a blind spot in our collective history: the mental health of women who arrived in France through family reunification in the early 1980s.


  • Najat El Hachmi, winner of the 2021 Nadal Prize, publishes La cazadora de cuerpos o la ansiedad del deseo (The Body Hunter or the Anxiety of Desire), 176 pages, Ediciones Destino.


  • Tahar Ben Jelloun revisits his experience as a freelance journalist for the newspaper Le Monde (Collection Blanche, Gallimard, 128 pages) in his latest publication, Pigiste au Monde.

CCME Joins the National Access to Information Portal (PNDAI)

The Commission for the Right of Access to Information (CDAI) and the CCME signed a partnership agreement on Monday, December 22, 2025, concerning the CCME's membership in the National Access to Information Portal (PNDAI). The agreement, initiated by the presidents of the two institutions, Mr. Omar Seghrouchni and Mr. Driss El Yazami, aims to allow citizens, as well as foreign nationals legally residing in Morocco, to submit their access to information requests and related complaints remotely via the PNDAI, while ensuring the monitoring of their processing, in accordance with the provisions of Article 2 of Law No. 31-13. Read more


Medi Up explores Goul-IA, the 100% Moroccan chatbot for Moroccans living abroad

The Medi Up program on Medi 1 TV dedicated a special episode to Goul-IA, the first chatbot designed entirely for Moroccans living abroad. The episode, broadcast on December 26, 2025, featured Fahd El Moudni, a French-Moroccan expert in digital transformation, and Driss El Yazami. Watch the show


Screening of the documentary “Ceux qui veillent” in Rabat

The 7th Art Cinema in Rabat hosted a screening of the documentary “Ceux qui veillent” (“Those who watch over us”) on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at 6:30 p.m., in the presence of director Karima Saïdi and artist Madiha Feguigui. The film recounts how the descendants of immigrants, Muslims, Christians, and Jews, honour their deceased, transforming the multi-faith cemetery in Brussels into a place of life, memory, and coexistence.

This event was organized by the CCME and the Circle of Laureates of Belgium (CLB) to mark International Migrants Day. It was held in partnership with the Wallonia-Brussels General Delegation in Morocco and with the support of the Moroccan Cinema Center (CCM). Read more


Report on the expulsion of Moroccans from Algeria

A groundbreaking report on the expulsion of Moroccans from Algeria was presented on December 17, 2025, at the CCME headquarters. Published by the International Collective in Support of Families of Those Expelled from Algeria (CiMEA-75) and supported by the CCME, this report documents the expulsion of 45,000 Moroccans from Algeria on December 28, 1975, and marks a crucial step in the fight against forgetting and the preservation of memory. Read more


Support for the Agadir International Film and Migration Festival

The CCME supported the 21st edition of the Agadir International Film and Migration Festival (December 8-13, 2025). Organized by the Cultural Initiative Association, this edition honoured Angola and brought together Moroccan and international filmmakers, including Moroccans living abroad as Nabil Ben Yadir , Karima Saidi, Manal Chahboun, Nabil Mallat, Soumaia Akaaboun, Ahlam Teghadouin ( Belgique ) ; Izza Genini, Nassim Boudraa, Ayoub Gretaa (Franc) and Abdelfattah Diouri (Germany) . Read more
