Burning the Moroccan Flag in Paris is a violation of the Moroccan Kingdom and an offense against the dignity of the Moroccans

Monday, 28 October 2019

The Council of the Moroccan community -living- abroad (CCME) strongly condemns the cowardly act that drove some individuals to burn the National flag during an event held in Paris 26 October 2019. This is a serious attack against the National Sovereignty and an offense upon the honor of every Moroccan.

Due to the heinous act against Our Flag and Country, Mr. Abdellah Boussouf, Secretary General of the CCME, condemns in the name of the Council, the aggression of the national flag which is a criminal act and cannot be related to a free speech matter. This shameful act is an offense to generations of Moroccans who fought for the independence of Morocco, it's territorial integrity, and the Country’s development and social progress.

The Council also recalls the efforts of several generations of Moroccan migrants who fought for the Nation’s interests and their bond to the Moroccan identity which is defined by its diversity, openness and tolerance. All those values that Moroccan parents living abroad continue to transmit to their children.

Such methods have no chance to compromise either the national cohesion or the immutable bond of the Moroccans living abroad to their Country of origin and His Majesty the King.
